Article 44. Why Enterprise Lean Should be Implemented in Missouri

Enterprise Lean aka Toyota’s TPS(Toyota’s Production System) is implemented in nearly the entire state government. It empowers state employees to find the “best method” for doing a job and to make continuous improvements to their jobs.  It has been successfully implemented in more than a dozen states most notably: Minnesota, Iowa, Washington State,  Maryland, Michigan and others.  Most of the success stories are about document turnaround times.  In fact Missouri was one of the first states to use Lean to reduce the turnaround time of State Income Tax refunds from months to just days.
